Current Institution: Monash University
Fellowship: OLT National Teaching Fellowship at Griffith University
Fellowship Duration: 2013 - 2015
The fellowship aims to develop a framework for enhancing the supervision of students in law-related practice contexts. The framework recognises the reciprocal nature of practice-based learning and seeks to enhance the placement experience from the perspectives of both the student and the supervisor. Development of the framework is to be achieved by: (i) a scoping workshop at the International Journal of Clinical Legal Education (IJCLE) Conference; (ii) a national survey of supervisors and students’ placement experiences; (iii) an analysis of the settings where law placements take place and comparison of those settings to the placement contexts of other suitable disciplines and professions; (iv) the development of resources supporting supervisors’ and students’ reciprocal professional development; and (v) a series of workshops in capital cities and regional centres across Australia to assist in the dissemination of the framework to supervisors involved in significant clinical programs.
